Discover Our Modern Cleaning Methods
We’re pleased to offer state-of-the-art cleaning with the KaVo air polishing system, which is superior to traditional cleaning methods.
During this procedure, air and water pressure is used to deliver a stream of specially processed powders in a slurry through the handpiece nozzle. Minute particles of powders are propelled by compressed air in a warm spray and directed onto the surfaces of the teeth. This pressurized jet of air, water and powder effectively removes surface stains, plaque and other soft deposits. These include food particles trapped in between the teeth.
Air polishing can be done as part of the cleaning if the patient prefers this to regular polishing. In addition to providing an effective cleaning, air polishing offers improved patient comfort, reduces teeth sensitivity, cleans quicker and is ideal for using before orthodontic treatment.
Are you prone to heavy stain buildup or do you have especially sensitive teeth? Our Air-N-Go polishing system uses specially-formulated sodium particles to offer an efficient yet gentle cleaning.
This particular type of air polishing option works extremely well for our patients who tend to have heavier amounts of stain buildup on their teeth. Instead of having to manually scale each stain particle away, the flavored powder easily (yet safely) buffs out the buildup for a smooth finish.
Air-N-Go polishing is a simple and comfortable way to get cleaner teeth. It’s extremely popular in Europe and our local clients request it on a frequent basis. If you prefer to avoid rotary-type polishing methods because of sensitivity or the sensation of the pumice, this is a great alternative that can also save you time.
For tartar buildup or stains we can add the Piezoelectric ultrasonic scaling, which is efficient and gentle.
Patient Health & Safety Is Paramount
Just as we are passionate about helping you and your family smile brighter, we are committed to safeguarding your health. That's why we have incorporated several safety measures in our practice.
Water distillation
We use Sterisil® water distillation for our dental procedures. The benefit of using distilled pure water is that we can remove any substances, like bacteria, that may compromise our patients' health.
Amalgam separator
Additionally, we have added the Solmetex™ amalgam separator to our water lines. This device redirects toxic substances from our water treatment system when we remove old metal fillings. We are also proud to be a mercury-free dental practice!
Lowest dose and lowest scatter X-rays
To minimize your exposure to radiation, we utilize the KaVo NOMAD Pro 2 handheld X-ray system. This system uses the lowest dose and lowest scatter X-ray technology. As an extra measure of safety, we also protect our patients with lead aprons that include thyroid collars.
FAQ
How often do I need to have an examination and cleaning?
We recommend that you come in twice per year, every six months, to have your teeth, gums and supportive tissues checked. That way, you won’t require more extensive treatment later on. Plus, a cleaning leaves your teeth feeling smooth and gleaming! In some cases, such as for those with gum disease, more frequent appointments may be necessary.
What is involved in a routine checkup?
We’ll discuss your medical history and whether you have any dental concerns. Then, we’ll perform a thorough evaluation of each tooth, making any necessary notes as we go. We’ll check your mouth for any early warning signs of oral cancer. Once the examination is complete, we’ll polish and floss your teeth to a luminous finish.
Is there pain involved in a routine checkup?
No. A routine checkup is gentle and simple to do. If necessary, we can supply nitrous oxide. We understand that some patients are nervous about visiting the dentist and we do our utmost to help you feel relaxed and comfortable.
X-rays allow for a more in-depth look at your oral health, showing every facet of your teeth. We take them at your routine examinations to ensure that nothing is missed. If we identify a potential issue, we may take more X-rays so that we fully understand the nature of your problem. We’ll never take any X-rays that are unnecessary.
